Rich... this has nothing to do with States the boys played in, but your post made me think of something.... Elton John passed the Grateful Dead's record of playin at MSG the most amount of times. Saw it on the news about a week ago. was so pissed to hear it. Sorry... your post made me think of it, and I wanted to share. :)

I believe in 1987 or 1988 the dead broke the record for the fastest sellout of a run of shows at MSG. (10 mins or something like that) The previous record was held by.....ELton John

Now don't be pissed. Elton has his fans, too. Besides, he's still here, or still standing, and he probably never set out to establish any kind of record like that, anyway. Or maybe he did, but I would doubt that the Dead tried to do so. Keep working long enough in show business and a milestone of some kind will eventually be reached. Garcia once said that, like old whores and bad architecture, The Grateful Dead simply stuck around long enough to become respectable. I wonder what Elton would think about that. At least he's not dressing up like Donald Duck anymore. One has to have at least some respect for that.

The donald duck outfit, man I forgot about that. I dig elton, except his soundtrack stuff. I even have to say his duet with kiki dee was good.
